Military Resource & Employment Symposium

Preregistration for the event is now closed. Current and former military families are welcome to join us as preregistration is not required to attend.

JIA MRES FlyerAs an increasing number of service men and women separate and transition out of the military, there becomes a greater need for employment and supportive resources for veterans and their families…

The purpose of the Military Resource & Employment Symposium is to assist current members of the Armed Services, Veterans, and their spouses with information critical to:

  • Gaining civilian employment
  • Achieving family resiliency and financial stability
  • Successfully transitioning from military to civilian life

The one-day symposium will feature four 30 minute keynote speaker sessions that will each take place twice throughout the day during both a morning and afternoon session, offering ample opportunity for military families to attend any session(s) of their choice. Door prize drawings will take place following each speaker session.

SPEAKING SESSION SCHEDULE (Each session is 30 minutes in length):

  • Family Resiliency, presented by SFC Robert Eads, FL National Guard R3SP Program Manager: 10:15am & 3:30pm
  • Job Interview Skills, presented by Bruno Pell, VP Citi Veteran Recruiting: 11:00am & 1:15pm
  • Financial Planning/Wealth Management, presented by Shawn Rasmussen & Ellis De Jesus, USAA Wealth Management Dept: 11:45am & 2:00pm
  • Know Your Worth, presented by former Navy SEAL Kory Knowles: 12:30pm & 2:45pm

Attendees should BRING THEIR RESUMES to take advantage of one-on-one résumé counseling led by human resource executives from Citi Group.

FREE FOOD and the Youth in Action Kids’ Zone will be available from 11:00am-2:00pm. Parking for the event is free for all attendees. Vincent Jackson will be present for meet and greet and photos from 12:30-2:00pm.

Confirmed employers include USAA, Citi, ReliaQuest, Bristol-Myers Squibb, Bright House, Progressive Insurance, Hillsborough County Schools, Verizon, McNichols Co., and ARMA Global to name a few. Organizations that provide veteran and military resources will also be present, including Hero 2 Hired, Circle of Veterans, The Elk Institute, and Fast Track Urgent Care.
