Vincent Jackson is the 2015 Salute to Service Recipient
On Friday, February 5th, Vincent Jackson received a big surprise live on NFL Network during an interview from Radio Row at Super Bowl 50 in San Francisco, CA. It was fitting that a Naval Academy graduate, who also happens to be a Heisman Trophy winner and NFL Hall of Fame member, presented him with the honor. Roger Staubach revealed on air that Vincent was the 2015 recipient of the Salute to Service Award presented by USAA and the NFL. While the award was presented officially at NFL Honors the following evening, it was as much an honor for Vincent to receive the news from a former military service member and NFL legend.
“Words cannot express how honored I am to represent the NFL and USAA for this prestigious award” said Vincent. “This recognition truly goes to those who sacrifice and serve our nation, both past and present, and their continued efforts to protect our freedom. I was blessed to have been raised in an environment where the significance of duty, leadership, and hard work were stressed on a daily basis, and I simply try to carry that out in my personal and professional life. Thanks, once again, to the NFL and USAA for providing such an impactful platform to recognize our nation’s Armed Services – the true heroes who deserve this most.”
