First Annual Salute to Scholars Scholarship Awarded

On Friday, May 2, the Jackson in Action 83 Foundation awarded its first annual Salute to Scholars scholarship award to Dorothea West, graduating senior at Widefield High School in Colorado Springs, CO. In the Fall, Dorothea will attend Colorado State University-Pueblo where she’s contemplating a career in foreign or public service where she can utilize her communications skills.

A $2,500 scholarship, the Salute to Scholars program was established to provide support for secondary education to dependents of active duty or retired military members. In this first year of the scholarship program, applications were only accepted from students at Widefield High School, Vincent’s alma mater. The foundation hopes to add an additional scholarship award in Tampa Bay in 2015.
